John Denver said it best. Country roadddssss, take me hooommeee! To the plaaacceee I belooonggg! WEST VIRGINIA!! Alright, alright, you get it. Home to my alma mater: West Virginia University and birthplace of most of the people I love, West Virginia is probably my favorite state. West Virginia is known as the mountain state, but is home to whimsical lakes and rivers lined with waterfalls, and kindest people you will ever meet. This underrated beauty is also home to the United State’s newest National Park. West Virginia is home to all four seasons and is a fabulous vacation destination at all times of the year. In the mountain state, you can enjoy fantastic fall foliage, enjoy winter sports such as snowboarding, skiing, or skating, hike through gorgeous mountain towns in the Spring, or enjoy one of the many bodies of water West Virginia is home to during the summer. West Virginia is truly almost heaven and can be the perfect spot to book your next trip!

    Take a hike in the mountain state

    From Seneca Rocks to the scenic byways, there is no limit to the beauty you will see in West by God Virginia. This hike is in Coopers Rock State Forest and it is called Raven Rock on AllTrails.

  • Sing Country Roads at the end of a WVU sporting event

    Nothing beats a Mountaineer win! My alma mater of West Virginia University has one of the coolest traditions at the end of every game they win by singing John Denver’s Country Roads. They also play it during WVU graduation. Feeling misty-eyed yet? You gotta experience it for yourself!

    Visit Coopers Rock

    Coopers Rock State Forest is one of the most beautiful state parts in all of West Virginia and definitely worth the stop if you are passing through the state. With miles of hiking trails and caves to explore, this spot is great for every nature lover.

    Visit the United State's newest National Park

    New River Gorge National Park is the newest entrant into the national park family and it is well worth a visit. Miles of hiking trails, water sports, and climbing activities provide activities for all nature-loving folks.

    Visit Harpers Ferry

    My personal favorite town in West Virginia is home to some of the most beautiful views in all of the Northeast. Located along the Appalachian Trail (and the HQ for the trail), the sleepy town of Harpers Ferry is full of fun and adventure. Do not miss the historical ghost tour that is offered nightly.
